What makes the Options for Aging, Inc. Home Help Registry different from most other home care companies?

AVAILABILITY
While most other companies in our area are struggling to retain enough trained caregivers, OFA Inc. has a registry of more than 300 carefully screened caregivers. Most are certified nurses aides, while others have had many years of hands-on experience.

QUALITY
Our screening process is extremely thorough. Each candidate is interviewed at length, personal and work references are checked. Because we are not direct employers, we are able to access information that is not available to payroll agencies.

RELIABILITY
Since we come to know our caregivers so well - their strengths, limitations, personal and family needs - we never place them in jobs above their skill or experience level, or in conflict with their family or personal needs. They also earn more (though our clients pay less) than they would if they worked for a payroll agency. This makes them reliable, consistent and loyal to us and our clients.

FLEXIBILITY
There are no limits on what an OFA caregiver is allowed to do, as long as it is legal and proper, an authorized and competent person supervises the caregiver, the caregiver is capable of performing the task and agrees to do it. This includes but is not limited to housework, cooking, transportation, and dispensing, medications. This is because the caregiver works for the client/family and not for us.

AFFORDABILITY
At $10 to $12 an hour, $125 -150 for a 24 hour shift and $350 - 500 for a full-time, (7-day) live-in, our caregivers charge substantially less than one would have to remit to a payroll agency. Even with our one time placement fee, this remains true.

PROFESSIONALISM
Options for Aging, Inc. is owned and operated by a master's level social worker with over 40 years of experience working with older and disabled adults. A home visit intake procedure precedes any placement. MSW care management services are available for all clients. Most long-term care insurance polices reimburse for our services.
